Okanagan Artist Heather Hollingsworth opens a show at The Art Gallery Osoyoos (TAGO) on Wednesday, May 27. The show titled, ‘The Colour of Shadows’ runs until Saturday, June 20.
Art lovers can meet Hollingsworth during the First Friday events on Friday, June 5 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at TAGO.
On the first Friday each month local galleries put on an open house where visitors can view the art, talk to artists, and in some cases enjoy refreshments and live music.
There are now nine participants: Best Cellars Bistro & Books; The Art Gallery Osoyoos; Artists on Main; The Osoyoos District Museum; Century 21 Pop-Up Art; Wayside Select Books & Art; The Okanagan Art Gallery; Wide Arts Gallery and Backroads Brewing.
Hollingsworth was born in Williams Lake and grew up on Sumas Mountain outside of Abbotsford. She was inspired by her archeologist uncle Bill Chappelle, whom she credits for influencing her journey to become an artist. Watercolours and pencil have been her media of choice, but she’s also been drawn to the colours that can be created with water-soluble pencil crayons. Her subjects of choice include landscapes, waterscapes and florals, often including birds and other creatures that may be found in those settings.
The gallery is open Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
It is located at 8713 Main St. in Osoyoos, B.C., just west of Town Hall.
