Keremeos artists launch joint exhibition at TAGO

Kit & Kat – Wendy Provins

Two Keremeos artists launched a joint exhibition at The Art Gallery Osoyoos (TAGO) this past Wednesday, April 29. The show titled, ‘Here, There and Everywhere’ runs until Saturday, May 23.

The two artists, Wendy Provins and Myra Hammond work in acrylic and mixed media paintings, jewelry and greeting cards showcasing their unique styles. The two women also display together at the Okanagan Art Gallery, and their work at both galleries will be available for viewing during First Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 1.

On the first Friday each month local galleries put on an open house where visitors can view the art, talk to artists, and in some cases enjoy refreshments and live music.

There are now nine participants: Best Cellars Bistro & Books; The Art Gallery Osoyoos; Artists on Main; The Osoyoos District Museum; Century 21 Pop-Up Art; Wayside Select Books & Art; The Okanagan Art Gallery; Wide Arts Gallery and Backroads Brewing.

Myra Hammond has been doing some form of art for most of her life and is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work grabs the viewer’s eye with colour and the simplicity of the work shows her love for the abstract shape as she explores and experiments in all mediums. Since moving to the Okanagan, she enjoys the change in scenery from the coast to the Similkameen Valley.

Wendy Provins is an artist inspired by nature, memory and the places she has called home, living in various parts of Canada and spending several years in Brisbane Australia.    Wendy primarily works with acrylics, often painting birch trees and nature-inspired scenes, while also exploring more whimsical designs featuring circles and flowing forms.  Recently, she has been working with polymer clay, creating unique jewelry and ornaments.

The gallery is open non-summer hours, Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.

It is located at 8713 Main St. in Osoyoos, B.C., just west of Town Hall.
